Happiness is in your own hands (or mind)

So I thought I'd google the title of my blog "If it's going to be it's up to me".  Not surprisingly, the results returned a lot of self-help resources on happiness and positive psychology, as well as many Christian resources.

Following the social media theme, I've located a clip on You Tube by Henry Miller.  Henry's clip, in summary, makes the following points:

  • Think yourself happy - what you think you become.
  • Choose to be more optimistic.
  • Stop focusing on the negative, particularly ruminating about events in your life.
  • Build resilience.
  • Savour the present.
  • Intentionally act happy (smiling etc)
  • Exercise, meditate, sleep, embrace spirituality.
If you tend toward the negative, I encourage you to watch the clip.

The current terminology about this happiness movement is Positive Psychology.

Dr Martin Seligman is renowned as the founder of positive psychology.  I've listed below some links to social media resources on positive psychology from a few different Web 2.0 applications.

  3. Great choice of topic - very timely considering everyone's stressing out about uni work! I'm sure to take something away from this that will help both personally and professionally.
